about

This is the complete set of the opening performance for this night at the Lab in San Francisco, by Jim Kaiser (petit mal). This was a nearly full gear night, with tube amp reel deck, shortwave radio, broken glass, contact mic'd bicycle wheel, and the usual assortment of pedals - Line6 DL4, Boss RV-3, Boss PS-3, and the very disobedient Boss DM-2, plus the mixer on stage. A bit on the more aggressive side of things, thanks in part to the subwoofer and lovely p.a. at the venue, this live set is my last before heading to perform in Prague and Berlin in September, though definitely not a test run. Full power, damnit.
Thanks to Brandon Nickell for the invitation to play, also to both Rale and Pedestrian Deposit for making it a very good night out for live sets, and Kerri for playing old SWANS, Chrome and HTRK between the live performances. Truly good on the ears.
This is also simply a document, though it could well find its way onto the B side of a 60min cassette along with its sister show from the previous Thursday night on the flip. Again...time is the judge here.

about

petit mal music (label) Oakland, California

This site is to document the evolution of "band" to "label", as I had for 15 years performed and recorded solo material under the "petit mal" moniker. In 2008, a series of 3" cds was begun to release my own and related material. Since then, the relations are expanding and I've dropped the solo moniker in favor of my own name. This is now a home for unreleased live recordings, archives and 3" cds. ... more
