  • Blood Has Taste - limited edition 3" CDr - 50 copies
    Compact Disc (CD)

This is the 3" CDr of the 20min piece "Blood Has Taste", recorded and mixed in early 2015. First 3min feature recordings of an MRI machine as I was being scanned in Feb this year, and the remaining 17min were recorded at home onto 4-track tape deck using primarily the amplified bicycle wheel, violin bow, sticks, and acoustic guitar. This is a document of near constant pain and discomfort over the past few months. Yes, the images are from MRI scans of my neck and spine. An edition of 50 numbered copies.

Includes unlimited streaming of Blood Has Taste via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

about

This recording was provoked and inspired by several weeks, no, months of near constant pain and discomfort thanks to impacted vertebrae in my neck and upper back. #'s 2-3 and also 6-7, for those keeping score. The 6-7 have also managed to pinch a nerve that runs the length of my left arm from shoulder to fingertips.
Physical therapy has been a large help in dealing with this situation. Let this audio document help to deal with the mental toll it's taken lately too.
The first 3 or so minutes of this disc are from recordings I managed to capture in the room with the MRI machine as I was getting scanned earlier this year. The rest of the sounds were composed (if you will allow) and recorded at home via cassette 4-track.
Thank you for your kind attention, and enjoy the listen please.

This is pmalcd3 23 in an edition of 50 copies - May 2015.

Yes, those are scans of my neck and spine.

about

petit mal music (label) Oakland, California

This site is to document the evolution of "band" to "label", as I had for 15 years performed and recorded solo material under the "petit mal" moniker. In 2008, a series of 3" cds was begun to release my own and related material. Since then, the relations are expanding and I've dropped the solo moniker in favor of my own name. This is now a home for unreleased live recordings, archives and 3" cds. ... more
